Phenergan (Promethazine)
General information
Directions
Phenergan can be taken with or without food or milk. Take Phenergan exactly as prescribed by your doctor. For cure allergy the needed dose is 25 mg before going to bed. You can repeat the dose within two hours if essential. For cure motion sickness use 25 mg twice a day.
Precautions
Phenergan can impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Avoid drinking alcohol, which can increase some of the side effects of Phenergan. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Do not use Phenergan without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Avoid exposure to sunlight. Phenergan can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.
Contraindications
The drug should not be given to a child younger than 2 years old. Avoid using the medicine in coma, or have allergy to the components or breathing symptoms.
Possible side effect
The drug may cause an allergy, hives, concussion, sialorrhea, anxious, perspiration, convulsion, fever or flu symptoms, epiphora, nausea, jaundice, urinating less than usual or not at all, chest pain, slack pulse and respiration, giddiness, stuffiness in nose and problems with orgasm. If necessary seek emergency medical help at once.
Drug interaction
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don't take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Call emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine. Overdose symptoms may include chest pain, sickness, sluggishness, epilepsia or giddiness.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C). Store away from moisture and light. Keep it out of the reach of children and away from pets.
