Ceftin (Cefuroxime)

General information

Ceftin is an antibiotic that belongs to the family of medications known as cephalosporins. It is used to treat infections caused by bacteria. It is most often used to treat infections of the ear, throat, sinus, lung, and skin. It is also used to treat gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted infection.

Taking cefuroxime with food helps the medication to be better absorbed into the bloodstream. Swallow the medication whole with a glass of water. The recommended children's (less than 12 years of age) dose of cefuroxime ranges from 10 mg to 15 mg per kg of body weight twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
