Zyvox (Linezolid)
General information
Zyvox is an antibiotic that fights bacteria in the body and include a linezolid. It is used to treat different types of bacterial infections, such pneumonia, skin infections, and infections that are resistant to other antibiotics.
Directions
Use Zyvox exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use it with or without meal with the intervals, every 12 hours. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared, but don't stop the intake. If you don't feel better in 10 days, connect with your doctor accordingly.
Precautions
Tell the doctor if you cure over 28 days and feel dizziness, weariness, low temperature, irregular heartbeats, problems with breathing, sleepiness, belly pain,problems with eyes, changes in your feelings. Also if you cure with SSRIs antidepressants, you may feel somnolence, euphoria, giddiness, perspiration, fever. Don't use the food with high tyramine content. Avoid using the drug if you are pregnant, have an allergy, blood disorders or some chronic infections.
Contraindications
Don't use the medicine if you have an allergic reaction to the components.
Possible side effect
Zyvox may cause diarrhea, headache, sickness, retching, sleepiness, eruption, bleeding, trouble seeing colors or itching. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
Drug interaction
During your treatment with Zyvox, do not start or stop using any other medications unless your doctor tells you to. Call your doctor about all medications you use, especially apraclonidine, brimonidine, buspirone, bethanidine, bupropion, carbamazepine, entacapone, dextromethorphan, herbal products, papaverine, meperidine, sibutramine, SSRI antidepressants, tolcapone, sympathomimetics, tricyclic antidepressants, other drugs for cancer chemotherapy, MAO inhibitors, cough-and-cold products or diet medicines.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don't take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Call emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of this medicine.
Storage
Store your medicines at room temperature between 20-25 C (68-77 F).
